Information and Broadcasting Minister Dr Hasan Mahmud today urged artistes to play an active role in building a developed and humanitarian state.
"Our aim is to build a developed and an enrich state, as dreamt by Father of the Nation, by 2041 under the dynamic leadership of Bangabandhu's daughter Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. The role of actors in changing the minds of people and to build a developed and humanitarian state is crucial," he told the annual conference of Abhonoy Shiplu Sangh at Shilpakala Academy here.
State Minister for Information and Broadcasting Dr Murad Hasan, Awami League Office Secretary Barrister Biplob Barua, film actor Alamgir, eminent actors Mamunur Rashid and Tariq Anam and director Salauddin Lablu, among others, spoke with the organization president Shahiduzzaman Selim in the chair.
Hasan, also AL joint general secretary, congratulated the artistes for their affection of the profession. The artistes could have opted another profession, but they didn't do that and enriched the industry, he added.
The minister thanked the artistes for their support to the steps taken by the government for protection and development of the television sector. The clean feed (ad free) of foreign TV channels has been implemented for the country's interest with the association of all, he added.
The government, Hasan said, has also fixed the serial of Bangladeshi TV channels according on air date.
Murad urged the artistes to move ahead the industry through inspiring in the spirit of ideology of Bangabandhu and the Liberation War.
The artistes expressed their gratitude to the prime minister and the information and broadcasting minister for forming artistes welfare trust.
Later, Hasan inaugurated the website actorsequitybd.com of the organization.
