Abu Sayeed murder case report submission extended by one month

The International Crimes Tribunal has granted a one-month extension for the submission of the investigation report into the murder of Abu Sayeed, a student of Begum Rokeya University, who was killed during the anti-discrimination student movement. The tribunal has ordered the report to be submitted by July 14.

The decision was made on Sunday by a three-member panel of the tribunal, led by Justice Md. Golam Mortuza Mojumder.

During the hearing, several accused were presented before the tribunal, including Sub-Inspector Amir Hossain, Constable Sujan Chandra Roy, the university’s former proctor Shariful Islam, and Emran Chowdhury Akash, who was the then General Secretary of the university’s student political group.

The tribunal approved petitions to interrogate Amir Hossain and Sujan Chandra Roy on June 18, while Shariful Islam and Emran Chowdhury Akash are scheduled for interrogation on June 19.

Meanwhile, in a separate case regarding the murder of a youth named Hridoy in Konabari, Gazipur, the tribunal has allowed an additional two months to complete the investigation, setting the next hearing date for August 17.

Additionally, the tribunal directed that the investigation into another case concerning a mass killing in Jatrabari be completed by August 17.
