Two hundred and sixty-two expatriate Bangladeshis who took shelter in Saudi Arabia from conflict-hit Sudan, returned home on Friday morning.
A total of 239 people returned from Madina at 08:40 am by Biman flight BG338 while 23 people from Jeddah returned by BG136 flight at 12:15 pm, said a press release by Biman Bangladesh Airlines.
Secretary of the Ministry of Expatriates' Welfare and Overseas Employment Dr Ahmed Munirus Salehin, Member of the Board of Directors of Biman and Secretary of maritime affairs unit of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Rear Admiral Md Khurshed Alam (retd), Director Administration and Human Resources Joint Secretary of Biman Bangladesh Airlines Md Siddiqur Rahman and representatives of IOM were present at the time, among others.
Biman has brought back a total of 449 people since May 8. The airline brought back 136 expatriates on May 8 and 51 on May 11.
