The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has started looking into claims that public money was wasted on unnecessary Bangabandhu murals and sculptures across the country.

Concerns have been raised about whether these projects were really needed, leading to questions about the use of government funds.

In addition to this, the ACC is also moving forward with investigations and legal actions against several individuals linked to the previous government.

Md. Akhtar Hossain, Director General of ACC (Prevention), shared this information after a commission meeting on Thursday morning.

He mentioned that the decision to investigate was made based on serious concerns about the mismanagement of funds.

Among those facing investigation is former Chuadanga MP Solaiman Haque Joarder Selun and his wife, who are accused of having illegal assets worth 12 crore taka and being involved in suspicious financial transactions amounting to 37 crore taka.

The ACC also uncovered that Masud Biswas, the former chief of the Bangladesh Financial Intelligence Unit (BFIU), allegedly possesses 2 crore taka in illegal wealth, prompting the ACC to take legal steps against him.

Meanwhile, a case has been filed against Sudhanshu Shekhar Bhadra, the former Director General of the Postal Department, for allegedly embezzling around 92 crore taka.

The ACC has also issued a travel ban on former DMP Commissioner Khandaker Golam Faruq, fearing that he may attempt to leave the country.

Further, the ACC is pursuing charges against Keya Group Chairman Abdul Khaleque Pathan and six others, accusing them of misappropriating 500 crore taka in loans.

Simultaneously, journalist Munni Saha is under investigation for reportedly accumulating illegal wealth amounting to 134 crore taka.

This growing list of high-profile investigations has raised eyebrows and sparked widespread public interest, especially as more names continue to surface in connection with these corruption cases.
