Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has said they have found no legal example for convicts in corruption cases to travel abroad for treatment. Lawyers representing ACC made the remark on Wednesday (December 22).
ACC Lawyer advocate Khurshid Alam Khan said that he has scrutinized for any legal example on the issue regarding Khaleda Zia's treatment abroad. But in case of any convicted person in a corruption case, he has found no legal example yet.
If they (BNP) could show me any legal example, then it would have been easier for the law minister to take a decision regarding this matter. Personally, I have found no such case-law, he said.
On the other hand, BNP is waiting for the government's decision on their party chief Khaleda Zia's advanced treatment abroad. BNP lawyers have remarked that once they receive a decision from the government, they will announce their next step.
Speaking on this issue today, law minister Anisul Haq said very soon a decision will be announced in this matter.
