The advisory council of the interim government has urged to form a greater unity to permanently thwart the return of the ousted dictators in a bid to ensure national stability.
The call came following an unscheduled meeting of the Advisory Council was held Saturday (May 24) at the Planning Commission in Sher-e-Bangla Nagar, Dhaka.
The meeting was chaired by Chief Advisor Professor Muhammad Yunus, during which detailed discussions took place regarding the three main responsibilities entrusted to the interim government — elections, reforms, and justice.
Members of the Advisory Council expressed concern that undesirable demands, politically motivated statements, and unauthorized activities at various times have been disrupting the normal administrative functioning of the country. This has led to public suspicion and doubt, which could potentially jeopardize the nation’s stability.
The meeting concluded with a resolution that establishing broader unity among all political parties is crucial to maintaining stability and peace in the country.
Through such unity, the interim government will be able to carry out its responsibilities—elections, justice, and reforms—effectively, and permanently prevent the return of authoritarian rule on the nation’s soil.
The Advisory Council also stated that the interim government will take into account the opinions of political parties to further clarify its position.
Moreover, if attempts are made to obstruct the government`s functioning, it will present all relevant reasons before the public and take the necessary steps with the people’s support.
It is worth noting that while the interim government remains committed to fulfilling the objectives of the July uprising in line with public expectations, it is also prepared to take appropriate measures in the face of any obstacles.
