The Chief Election Commissioner (CEC), Kazi Mohammad Nasim Uddin, has highlighted a concerning issue—around 180 million people in the country have lost their right to vote.

He assured that the Election Commission is committed to restoring this vital right to the citizens.

Speaking at the launch of a training session for updating the voter list, the CEC explained the Commission‍‍`s ongoing efforts to make the voter list more accurate and inclusive.

On January 2, the Election Commission released the draft of the updated voter list. The new list includes around 1.8 million fresh voters, raising the total number of voters to 123,683,512.

To ensure no one is left out, the Election Commission plans to collect voter information from door to door starting January 20.

This effort is part of the Voter List Updating Program for 2025.

During the event, CEC Nasim Uddin emphasized that the Commission‍‍`s main goal is to eliminate the deprivation of voting rights.

He promised that the Election Commission will work tirelessly to hold free, fair, and trustworthy elections.

Other Commissioners present at the event also agreed that the accuracy of the voter list is critical for ensuring the credibility and acceptance of elections.

The more accurate the list, the more accepted the elections will be by the public.
