Coronavirus outbreak did not turned into a pandemic due the appropriate management and leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, said state minister for shipping Khalid Mahmud Chowdhury.
Not only in Bangladesh, Sheikh Hasina is a role model to millions of people across the country, he said.
The state minister came up with the remark while speaking to the inauguration ceremony of Sonkai College in Bochaganj of Dinajpur on Monday (September 20).
“There are some people in Bangladesh who say the sun did not rise before the sunset. When the first Covid-19 case was reported in the country in March 2020, many said, 20 million people will die of coronavirus in the country. It means, if 20 million people would have died of the virus, they became happy. The opposition parties think, if 20 million people die, Sheikh Hasina’s govt will face a fiasco. Sheikh Hasina’s govt will no longer sustain. Their desire did not come true,” Khalid Mahmud Chowdhury said.
Terming Bangladesh’s situation safe the state minister said, “We have observed the birth centenary of father of the nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman even amid the coronavirus outbreak. The development in the country did not stop in this one and a half year time of corona. The architects of development projects visited Bangladesh by this time. Construction of Padma bridge was not halted for a single day.”
He said, the whole world stumbled amid coronavirus situation. But, Bangladesh never stopped being a small nation.
