Arif Hasan, the Managing Director of Desh TV, was arrested on Saturday night at Dhaka’s Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport.
According to the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP), a team from the Airport Police Station took him into custody as he was about to leave the airport.
Talebur Rahman, the Deputy Commissioner of Media and Public Relations for DMP, confirmed the arrest, saying it was related to an attempted murder case.
The case was filed in connection with the recent student-led protests in the city.
In addition to his role at Desh TV, Arif Hasan is also the General Secretary of the Association of Television Channel Owners (ATCO).
