The first Janaza of Freedom Fighter and Trustee of Gonoshasthaya Kendra, Dr. Zafrullah Chowdhury is going to be held at Suhrawardy Uddyan in the captial on Thursday (April, 13) at 2:30 pm.
On Wednesday (April, 12) in a press conference organized at Gonoshasthaya Kendra Hospital in Dhanmondi, the Chairman of Gonoshasthaya Kendra Professor Altafunnesa Maya said these things.
Professor Altafunnesa said that Dr. Zafrullah Chowdhury's body will be taken to the Central Shaheed Minar at 10 o'clock tomorrow (Thursday) and he will be given a guard of honor there.
He also said that on Friday (April, 14) at 10 a.m. at Savar's public health center, Dr. Zafrullah Chowdhury's body will be taken. His second Janaza will be performed after the Jummah prayers.
Zafrullah Chowdhury breathed his last at Gonoshasthaya Hospital in the capital on Tuesday (April 11) night. He was suffering from various health complications including kidney disease for a long time. At the time of his death, he left behind his wife, Shirin Haque and two children.
His biggest contribution after the National Health Center was the National Drug Policy of 1982. It is considered as the biggest achievement in the health sector after independence. Due to his efforts, the number of imported drugs reduced to 225. At present 90 percent of medicines are manufactured in the country and this man's contribution is huge in making Bangladesh a medicine exporting country.
