Following the recent plane crash incident at Milestone School and College in Dhaka`s Uttara, 33 patients are currently being treated at the National Institute of Burn and Plastic Surgery, 27 of whom are children.
Three of the injured remain in critical condition in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU), with one on life support.
Professor Dr. Mohammad Nasir Uddin, Director of the institute, shared the updates during a press briefing at 3 p.m. on Monday.
He stated, “Currently, we have 33 patients admitted, including 27 children. Three of them are critically injured and are receiving intensive care. Nine more are classified under the `severe` category but are not in the ICU. The rest are being treated in general wards.”
Dr. Nasir Uddin added that although three patients were initially scheduled to be discharged today, bad weather and the need for another dressing session led doctors to postpone their release. Several other patients are expected to be discharged gradually throughout the week.
He also mentioned that foreign medical specialists who had arrived from Singapore, China, and India to assist with the treatment have started returning to their respective countries.
Earlier, two students — Ayaan Khan (12) and Rafsi (12) — were discharged on Saturday. On Sunday, two more — Kazi Amzad Saeed (20) and Subuja Begum (40) — were released and returned home.
Tragically, in the early hours of Monday (around 1:45 a.m.), Sahil Farabi Ayaan (14), a seventh-grade student of Milestone School, succumbed to his injuries while undergoing treatment.
