The closure of Milestone School and College’s Diabari campus in Dhaka, which was announced after a deadly fighter jet crash, has been extended once again, this time until Saturday (August 2).
Head of the school section, Khadija Akter, confirmed the decision to media on Monday night, saying, “Our permanent campus at Diabari will remain closed until Saturday. However, all administrative activities will continue. We are communicating with students and parents, and they are eager to return to normal academic activities. We hope to resume regular classes soon.”
The institution initially declared a three-day closure following the crash on July 21, later extending it until July 28. This marks the third extension of the shutdown.
The tragic incident occurred last Monday (July 21) when a Bangladesh Air Force fighter jet crashed into one of the campus buildings.
The disaster, considered the deadliest military aircraft accident in the country’s history, has so far claimed 34 lives, most of them children.
According to authorities, 34 burn victims and injured persons are still receiving treatment—34 at the National Institute of Burn and Plastic Surgery, 11 at the Combined Military Hospital (CMH), and one at the National Institute of Mental Health and Hospital.
