Bangladesh has reported two more dengue-related deaths within 24 hours, bringing the total death toll from the mosquito-borne disease to 78 so far this year.
According to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS), the deaths occurred between Sunday morning (July 27) and Monday morning (July 28).
During the same 24-hour period, 394 new dengue patients were admitted to hospitals across the country. With this, the total number of dengue hospitalizations in 2025 has reached 19,923.
The DGHS Health Emergency Operation Center and Control Room reports that as of July 28, a total of 9,627 patients have been hospitalized in July alone, with 36 reported deaths in the same period.
Currently, 1,258 dengue patients are receiving treatment in various hospitals nationwide. Among them, 348 are in Dhaka, while the remaining 910 are admitted to hospitals in other divisions.
A breakdown of monthly data shows that 1,161 people were hospitalized with dengue in January, followed by 374 in February, 336 in March, 701 in April, 1,773 in May, and 5,951 in June.
The corresponding death tolls were 10 in January, three in February, seven in April, three in May, and 19 in June.
Health authorities continue to monitor the outbreak closely as hospitals prepare for a potential rise in cases in the coming weeks.
