Government sends four police DIGs into mandatory retirement

The government has sent four Deputy Inspectors General (DIG) of Police into compulsory retirement in the interest of public service.

The decision was announced today, Monday, through separate notifications issued by the Public Security Division of the Ministry of Home Affairs.

The notifications, signed by Senior Secretary Nasimul Gani on behalf of the President, confirmed the move.

The officials who have been retired are DIG Atika Islam, attached to the Dhaka Range DIG Office; DIG Md. Mahbub Alam, attached to the Railway Police in Dhaka; DIG Md. Monir Hossain, attached to the Industrial Police; and DIG AKM Nahidul Islam, attached to Police Telecom in Dhaka.

According to the official circular, the officers have been retired “in the public interest” under existing regulations.

They will receive retirement benefits as per government provisions. The order has been made effective immediately.
