Foreign Minister Dr. AK Abdul Momen has said that foreigners’ opinion is not needed about the elections in Bangladesh.
“We want to organize an acceptable election. We don’t need learn democracy from others. We have democracy, human rights”, he said.
The minister came up with the remark in response to questions from journalists at the end of a programme of the Japanese Studies Department at Dhaka University on Saturday.
The foreign minister said, “We are thinking about transparent elections. The people of this country will decide about good or bad. No one can do anything about it. The people of Bangladesh will decide”.
Pointing out that the Awami League government did not come to power through bullets, Momen said the Awami League wants to conduct transparent elections as it came to power through ballots. “We will hold polls on time and will not obstruct any big party to participate in polls”, he said.
