Biman Bangladesh Airlines is starting flight operations for this year's Hajj pilgrims on May 21. This year, Bangladesh's only government and national flag carrier will operate a total of 160 flights for Hajj pilgrims. This pre-Hajj flight of Biman will end on June 22.
Shafiul Azim, the Managing Director of Biman Bangladesh Airlines, gave this information during a press conference on Sunday (March, 19).
MD Azim also said that this year 1 lakh 27 thousand and 198 people from Bangladesh have received permission to perform Hajj in Saudi Arabia. Biman Bangladesh Airlines will carry 50 percent of the Hajj pilgrims which is 63 thousand and 599 people. Flight operations for Hajj pilgrims will start from May 21.
He added, Biman Bangladesh's own four Boeing 777-300ER aircraft and 787 Dreamliner will be used for the transportation of pilgrims. Biman Bangladesh will operate a total of 160 dedicated flights in pre-Hajj flights. Among them, 116 flights will be operated on the Dhaka-Jeddah route, 20 on the Dhaka-Madinah route, 14 on the Chittagong-Jeddah route, 6 on the Chittagong-Madinah route and two flights will be operated on the Sylhet-Jeddah and Sylhet-Madinah routes.
