Dr Samanta Lal Sen, Minister of Health and Family Welfare, said today that if a child dies due to hospital officials` or doctors` incompetence, a "zero tolerance policy" will be implemented.
He also said that raids will be conducted to for hospital management supervision across the country from February, 27.
At the briefing, the minister addressed several types of recent health-related concerns.
He said that if a child dies due to carelessness, the "zero tolerance policy" will be followed. The prime minister has directed that action be taken against those found guilty in the health sector.
Speaking to reporters, he said that the health ministry has established a three-member committee to investigate into the deaths of two children who died during circumcision operation and three other recent deaths involving surgeries and medical procedures.
"If found guilty, strict action will not only be taken against the health centre, but all measures will be taken to ensure strict punishment for the culprits who were negligent in the incident," he said.
He said that steps will be taken to ensure that no other organisation overlooks such a severe obligation in the future.
Regarding the initiative, the minister said it is not only focusing on private hospitals, but any hospital that does not obey the guidelines. Hospitals will be prohibited to continue operations if they do not have sufficient medical arrangements in effect.
