Road Transport and Bridges Minister, Obaidul Quader said that all filling stations will be open 24 hours for five days before and seven days after Eid.
He said these things in a meeting at the Bangladesh Road Transport Authority (BRTA) office in Banani of the capital on Sunday afternoon in order to ensure safe and smooth travel of passengers on roads during the celebration of Eid-ul-Fitr.
At present CNG filling stations are closed from 5 pm to 11 pm due to gas crisis. However, this rule will not exist on the occasion of Eid. That means filling stations will be open for 24 hours a day for a total of 13 days including Eid. After Eid, the filling stations will go back to the old rules.
Obaidul Quader also said that there is no obstacle in the movement of motorcycles in all parts of the country and on national highways except Padma Bridge during the upcoming Eid holidays.
Pointing out that the lack of discipline on the roads, the Minister of Road Transport and Bridges said, “The biggest deficiency is our discipline. There are plans to make six lanes or eight lanes at many other places. But the biggest challenge is how to enforce the discipline. Discipline will reduce traffic jams and accidents.”
