ZI Khan Panna applies to represent Sheikh Hasina in court

Senior Supreme Court lawyer Z I Khan Panna has applied to represent former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina in the International Crimes Tribunal (ICT) in connection with the July war crimes case related to the anti-discrimination student movement.

He submitted the application on Tuesday (12 August) at the tribunal.

However, the tribunal responded that it is currently not possible to accept any new applications.

The tribunal further stated that “once the train has left the station, the station master cannot allow boarding.”

Despite a public notice, Sheikh Hasina did not appear, and a state defense counsel has already been appointed on her behalf after extensive search. Therefore, no legal opportunity exists now to appoint a new lawyer.
