Indian nationals caught while illegally entering Bangladesh with Beer Cans

Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) has arrested two men from India while they were attempting to cross into Bangladesh illegally.

 The arrest took place in the Comilla region, and the BGB also found four cans of beer with them.

Lieutenant Colonel Md. Iftikhar Hossain, who leads the BGB unit in Comilla, shared details about the incident during a press conference on Sunday afternoon. 

He explained that the arrests happened on Saturday evening as part of a special operation to fight drug smuggling and illegal activities along the border.

The two arrested individuals are Mohammad Roni, 21, and Mohammad Delwar Hossain, 18. 

They are from Shubhapur village in the Sipahijala district of Tripura, India. Roni is the son of the late Delwar Hossain, and Delwar is the son of the late Ayub Ali.

According to Lieutenant Colonel Hossain, the BGB patrol team found the two men about 200 yards inside Bangladesh, near Border Pillar 2084/7-S. 

During the investigation, they discovered the beer cans, leading to the men‍‍`s arrest.

After being detained, the two men were taken to the Kotwali Model Police Station in Comilla. 

The BGB has filed a case against them for illegal entry into Bangladesh, which is taken very seriously under the law.

Mohammad Mohinul Islam, the officer in charge at the police station, confirmed that the case has been officially registered. 

The two men were presented in court in Comilla on Sunday, where the legal process will continue to decide what happens next.

 This incident emphasizes the ongoing efforts to maintain security at the border and prevent illegal crossings.
