Three people lost their lives in a landslide in Akbar Shah area of Chittagong. Few others are stuck under the rubbles. It is said that the accident happened due to cutting the base of the mountain.
The incident took place in Beltali Ghona area on Friday (April 7) evening.
Fire service and Akbarshah Police station are carrying out rescue operations after receiving the information about the accident.
Locals said that some of the injured were rescued and sent to Chittagong Medical College Hospital.
Confirming the matter, Assistant Director of Chittagong Fire Service Abdul Malek said, "Our team rescued one person and sent him to the hospital. The rescue operation is still going on."
Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Akbar Shah Police Station, Wali Uddin Akbar said that the mountain collapsed on the workers while cutting the road. Fire service is doing rescue work. Details of casualties are not known.
Fire Service Chittagong station officer Enamul Haque said that one person was rescued and sent to Chittagong Medical College Hospital. A few more workers are missing. Nothing can be said until the rescue operation is over.
