Murder cases filed over 2 female tourists death in Cox's Bazar

Two separate murder cases have been filed over the deaths of two female tourists in Cox's Bazar.

 

The dead tourists are identified as– Laboni Akhtar,19, and Marufa Khanam, 23. They both died on the same day, Thursday.

 

According to police, Laboni's father filed a murder case with the Sadar Police Station on Friday a day after she died while undergoing treatment at ICU. 

 

Four youths--Kamrul Alam, 20, and Arif Rahman Nilu, 22– both residents of Dhaka's Jatrabari area, Tanjil Hasan of Shariatpur district, and Mahim Hasan Anik, 20, of Narayanganj--were made accused in the case of "planned murder." 

 

According to the case statement, Laboni left home on May 11 saying that she would visit a relative. But, the four accused took her to Cox's Bazar and checked in Hotel Beach Holiday at Kolatoli on May 11. On May 14, two of her friends-- Kamrul and Arif--rushed her to Sadar Hospital after she fell sick.

 

Police immediately detained them after they confessed that they had excessive alcohol while two others fled the spot sensing the situation.

 

On May 16, Laboni was shifted to ICU as her condition deteriorated. She died on May 19. Police handed the body over to the family members after autopsy.

 

Kamrul and Arif later shown arrested under section 54. 

 

Another case was filed by Saydul Islam, brother of Marufa Khanam, with Ukhiya Police Station accusing one Nasir Uddin. 

 

According to the police, Marufa, a resident of Gopalganj, had checked in Hotel Royal Tulip with Nasir Uddin, of Dinajpur – identifying themselves as husband and wife.

 

He said they went to their room after lunch and rushed to Sadar Hospital after she complained of breathing problems on May 18.

 

She was declared dead on arrival by doctors at the hospital early hours of May 19. Later, Nasir was detained by police and was shown arrested.
