Three more people have died of dengue in the past 24 hours, bringing this year`s death toll from the disease to 53. During the same period, 467 more dengue patients were admitted to hospitals across the country.
The information was released in a dengue update issued by the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) on Thursday.
According to the statement, covering the 24-hour period from 8:00 am Wednesday to 8:00 am Thursday, 67 dengue patients were admitted to hospitals in Barishal Division, 69 in Chattogram Division, 70 in Dhaka Division outside the city corporations, 62 in Dhaka North City Corporation, 57 in Dhaka South City Corporation, 66 in Khulna Division, 21 in Mymensingh Division, 32 in Rajshahi Division, 20 in Rangpur Division and three in Sylhet Division.
According to DGHS data, a total of 15,157 dengue patients have been admitted to hospitals across the country so far this year. Of them, 9,053 were hospitalized in July alone.
The health directorate also said that 53 people have died from dengue this year, including 35 deaths recorded in July alone. The remaining deaths were reported in January (2), February (2), May (1) and June (13).
