Home Secretary Nasimul Gani confirmed that there will be no parade on March 26th, Bangladesh`s Independence Day.
The decision follows a meeting held on Sunday at the Secretariat, where discussions were held regarding law and order for both Independence Day and the upcoming Eid celebrations.
The Home Secretary explained that, similar to the previous year’s Victory Day on December 16th, there will be no parade this year for the Independence Day observance.
This marks a significant departure from the tradition of holding parades on such national days.
The meeting was chaired by retired Lieutenant General Jahangir Alam Chowdhury, the Home Adviser, who emphasized that the country’s security forces are prepared to address any potential challenges.
While there are no major security concerns surrounding the celebrations, the Home Secretary noted, "There is always some level of risk, but the law enforcement agencies are well-prepared for any situation. Necessary instructions have been issued to ensure the public’s safety, including measures to stop extortion."
In addition, the Home Secretary addressed concerns related to the upcoming Eid celebrations, assuring the public that efforts are being made to avoid any worker unrest.
"To prevent any dissatisfaction among workers, garment workers will receive their wages before Eid. Decisions regarding Eid leave for garment workers will be taken by the relevant organizations within the ready-made garment sector," he added.
With these precautions and measures in place, the government is taking all steps to ensure a peaceful and secure environment for the nation’s important holidays.
