One of the organizers of the liberation war, student leader of the seventies, Noore Alam Siddiqui, has passed away. He was 83 years old.
His private secretary Aniket Rajesh said that he died in the early hours of Wednesday while undergoing treatment at the United Hospital in the capital.
Noore Alam Siddiqui was one of the four student leaders who were close to Bangabandhu and were called the 'Four Khalifas' at that time. He was the convener of Swadhin Bangla Central Student Council.
Noore Alam Siddiqui was born on May 26, 1940 in Jhenaidah. He served as the president of the Chhatra League during the period of (1970-1972) when the Bengali independence movement reached its final stage.
Noore Alam Siddiqui was one of the organizers of Mujib Bahini. He became a member of parliament as a candidate of Awami League from Jessore-2 constituency in the first national parliamentary election of 1973.
Private Secretary Aniket Rajesh said that Noore Alam Siddiqui's body will be taken to his village home in Jhenaidah by helicopter. At the end of Janaja, it will be brought to Dhaka.
Another round of Janaja will be held at Azad Mosque in Gulshan. There the state honor will be given to this brave freedom fighter.
Later, he will be buried in Savar after the last Janaja in the mosque he built in Savar.
