Before the train arrived at the station, a group of people demanded to stop the train. They threw stones at the train because it didn't stop.
A number of young people attending a fair wanted the intercity Egarsindur Express train to stop when it arrived in the Manikkhali district at midnight on Sunday after departing from Dhaka. As the place was not a station, the authorities continued the train without stopping.
They got very furious as the train did not stop and started throwing stones at the train. This led injury of 30 people including the train driver.
The assistant driver, Md. Kawsar Hossain also got hurt in this incident. He recorded the incident and shared in his Facebook profile. There he writes, "There is no stoppage allowed in the fair held at Manikkhali Sanction. So, there is no reason to stop the train. A group of rowdy youths injured passengers by throwing stones for not stopping there. My hand is wounded. I am thankful to Almighty Allah for my survival".
Railway Stationmaster Yusuf Hossain confirmed the truth of the incident and said that this incident has been informed to the higher authority of the train. Further action will be taken according to their decision. Apart from that, the policemen on duty in the train have also informed their authorities.
