Prime Minister Tarique Rahman has welcomed the “Notun Kuri Sports” programme, calling it an important step to find and train young sports talents across the country.
In a message, he said the initiative will help identify boys and girls aged 12 to 14 and give them proper training to develop their skills.
The programme, organised by the Ministry of Youth and Sports, aims to bring out talent from the grassroots level and build a strong base for future athletes.
The prime minister said sports is now more than just recreation and has become a respected and promising career worldwide. He added that the government is working to support athletes and ensure their financial security.
He also highlighted the role of sports in building discipline and keeping young people away from harmful activities.
The prime minister said the country is already supporting young athletes through scholarships and training at Bangladesh Krira Shikkha Protishthan.
He expressed hope that the new programme will help create skilled athletes who can represent Bangladesh at the international level.
Officials said the initiative is expected to strengthen the country’s sports sector through proper planning and training.
