Tarique Rahman on Saturday called on grassroots leaders of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party to work together to implement the party’s election promises.
Speaking at a views-exchange meeting in Dhaka, the BNP chairman said the party has now entered a “new struggle” to fulfil the commitments made to the public before the election.
He said the election manifesto has become the people’s manifesto after voters gave their support in the February parliamentary election.
Tarique said the government aims to ensure good governance, improve the education system and provide safety for women, men and children.
He also said the government wants to create a political environment where people can express opinions freely without fear of repression or violence.
Urging party leaders and activists to cooperate with the government, he said the administration cannot succeed without the support of the party organisation.
The meeting was attended by senior BNP leaders, including Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir and other standing committee members.
It was the first such meeting between Tarique Rahman and grassroots leaders after the parliamentary election held on February 12.
