Police seek travel ban on Basundhara MD Anvir

Police have filed a petition seeking a ban on going abroad to Basundhara Managing Director Sayem Sobhan Anvir who is the prime accused in the case of raping and killing college student Mosarat Jahan Munia.

Investigation of the case PBI officer Golam Mukter Ashraf Uddin filed the petition with Dhaka CMM court on Sunday (October 10).

Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Begum Yasin Ara fixed October 27 for conducting the hearing on the police appeal.

Another accused in case model Faria Mahbub Piasha has been sent to jail after two days remand.

Munia’s sister Nusrat Jahan filed the case with Dhaka Women and Children Repression Prevention Tribunal, Dhaka-8 against eight people including the Basundhara MD Sayem Sobhan Anvir.

Conducting the hearing the tribunal asked the Officer in Charge (OC) of Gulshan police station to take the complaint as the first information report and hand over the investigation to the Police Bureau of Investigation (PBI).

The other accused are Anvir’s father Ahamad Akbar Sobhan, mother Afroza, wife Sabrina, Anvir’s girlfriend Saifa Rahman Mim, model Faria Mahbub Piasa, Munia’s house owner Ibrahim Ahmed Ripon and the latter’s wife Sharmin.

Earlier, Nusrat Jahan filed another case against Anvir with the Gulshan police station for provoking Munia to commit suicide.

Police filed the final report to the court suggesting acquittal of the business tycoon on July 19.
