Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina delivered poignant remarks, emphasizing that wielding power is not a matter of enjoyment. She made these comments during a discussion meeting held at the Dhaka District Awami League Building in Tezgaon, the capital, on Monday, March 18, at approximately 11:00 am.
Addressing the gathering, Prime Minister Hasina highlighted the responsibility that comes with power, stating, "Power is a means of fulfilling the responsibility towards the people." She expressed concern over the self-serving actions of BNP leaders and activists amid ongoing movements, accusing them of prioritizing personal interests over public welfare.
In a scathing critique of the opposition party, she remarked, "They are throwing iftar parties without standing by the people by committing arson." Continuing her criticism, she pointed out the irony of BNP members attending such events while engaging in anti-government rhetoric, highlighting their lack of alignment with the values of Islam.
Prime Minister Hasina underscored the commitment of Awami League to serve the people, contrasting it with the perceived indulgence of BNP. She emphasized, "Awami League has ensured the food security of the people of the country. BNP only ingest iftar parties and Awami League only feeds."
During the meeting, the Prime Minister addressed concerns regarding the rise in commodity prices and inflation, attributing these challenges to the global geopolitical landscape. She further reflected on the legacy of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, lamenting his tragic demise in 1975 despite his lifelong dedication to the welfare of the Bangladeshi people.
