At least five students were injured in a clash between Dhaka College and Dhaka City College students in the Science Lab area of Dhaka on Thursday, August 21.
The altercation reportedly began around 11:30 am, escalating into a violent confrontation between groups from the two colleges, according to Officer-in-Charge of New Market Police Station, AKM Mahfuzul Haque.
Additional police personnel were deployed to the scene to restore order and control the situation.
Police confirmed that two students from Dhaka College and three from City College sustained injuries. Their identities have not yet been released. The injured students were taken to Dhaka Medical College Hospital for treatment.
OC Haque also noted that the clash stemmed from an earlier incident on Tuesday, August 19, when City College students allegedly attacked two Dhaka College students, prompting retaliation that led to Thursday’s violent confrontation.
