Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has earned BDT 96,000 by selling 80 maunds of Boro rice produced on her ancestral land for the second consecutive year.
On Tuesday, the food warehouse in Tungipara collected the Prime Minister`s rice. The Sudha Sadan address in Dhanmondi was listed as her residence.
Last year, during the Boro season, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina sold rice to the food warehouse for the first time.
According to the weight and quality certificate, the Prime Minister sold 3 tons of rice (75 sacks, totaling 3,000 kilograms) at the government-fixed price of BDT 32 per kilogram, amounting to BDT 96,000. In traditional measurements, this equates to approximately 80.39 maunds of rice.
Vidya Kumar Biswas, the acting officer-in-charge (OC-LSD) of the Tungipara food warehouse, commented, "The Prime Minister sold three tons of rice to the government food warehouse at the set price, earning BDT 96,000. The amount has been transferred online to her bank account."
Upazila Agriculture Officer Rakibul Islam added, "The Prime Minister is selling rice produced on her ancestral land. The upazila food warehouse purchased this rice through the agricultural department."
