A group of students from the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement held a protest outside the Indian Assistant High Commission (AHC) in Khulna on Monday night, in response to the recent attack on Bangladesh’s Assistant High Commission in Agartala, India.

The protest started at around 10:30 pm on Shamsur Rahman Road, with the demonstrators raising slogans against ISKCON and India.

One of the student protesters told the crowd, “An attack was carried out on our country’s diplomatic office in India. We are here to protest this attack and to show that we will never allow anyone to harm our country.”

The protesters demanded justice for the attack on Bangladesh’s diplomatic mission and called for the arrest of those responsible.

They also used the protest to criticize the government of the Awami League, particularly former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, and called for accountability from her political supporters.

Among the students who spoke at the protest were Zahurul Islam Tanvir, Sajjadul Islam Bappi, Rafsan, and Minhajul Islam Sompod.

Meanwhile, the Bangladesh government strongly condemned the violent protest by members of the Hindu Sangharsh Samity in Agartala.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs issued a statement on Monday, calling the attack on Bangladesh’s diplomatic office and the disrespect shown to the national flag “barbaric.”

The statement also linked the incident to a similar protest that took place in Kolkata on November 28, 2024.

The Ministry stressed that the attack in Agartala was a clear violation of the Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations, 1961, which protects the inviolability of diplomatic missions.
