Samsuzzaman Shams, a Staff Reporter (Savar Correspondent) of national daily Prothom Alo, has been freed from Dhaka Central Jail in Keraniganj this evening, five days after being taken into custody from his Savar home.
Senior Jail Super of the prison Subhash Kumar Ghosh confirmed this to media.
He said, "After getting the bail order, we released him. He left the facility at 6:22pm."
In a case lodged under the Digital Security Act, 2018 with the Ramna Police Station, a Dhaka court earlier on Monday around 3:00 pm granted him bail up until the filing of the police report.
The bail order was issued by Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Muhammad Asaduzzaman Noor of Dhaka on a Tk 20,000 bond with two guarantors, a lawyer for Shams, Chaitanya Chandra Halder informed the media.
