Emphasising the need to change the perspective towards persons with disabilities, Religious Affairs Adviser AFM Khalid Hossain on Tuesday said providing religious and technical education can contribute to the country’s progress.

Highlighting on the immense importance of religious and technical education for individuals with disabilities, he said “Such education would play a vital role in making them self-reliant, enabling them to lead respectable lives in society as well as would help to build morale, skills and ethical values.”

The religious adviser came up with the information while speaking at the Education Affairs Seminar, organised by Jamia Shayokh Al Islamia Madrasha, at Kaukhali upazila in Rangamati district.

He also expressed satisfaction upon observing the madrasa’s initiative to teach visually impaired students the Holy Quran, Bangla, Mathematics, English, and Social Studies using the Braille system.

The adviser also laid the foundation stone of Shaykh Jamir Uddin Jame-e-Mosque and visited the Hathazari thana Model Mosque.
