Workers from various garment factories went to the streets in Dhaka`s Mirpur-10 area this morning, demanding an increase in their salaries.
The protest disrupted vehicular movement on the road between Mirpur-10 and Mirpur-14.
After the factories opened at 8:00 a.m., workers began to gather at different spots in Mirpur 13 and 14.
Around 8:30 a.m., they headed to Mirpur-1 and 11 and tried to encourage workers to join the protest.
The workers, however, blocked the road in Mipur-10 after being resisted by police.
Only the salary for entry-level workers was increased by 56.25 percent in the salary structure announced on November 7; the other grades saw increases ranging from 20 to 28 percent.
This has been rejected by the workers.
