Axel van Trotsenburg World Bank Managing Director of Operations of World Bank has promised to support Bangladesh in reaching the goal of an upper middle income country.
He made this promise in a bilateral meeting with Finance Minister AHM Mustafa Kamal at a hotel in the capital on Saturday after coming to Bangladesh on a three-day official visit.
After the meeting, the Ministry of Finance announced this information in a notification.
Axel praised Bangladesh's economic development as well as incredible success in reducing poverty. He also praised the various timely steps taken by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina to deal with Covid-19 pandemic. He echoed his commitment to stand by the World Bank to reach the goal of Bangladesh as an upper middle income country, the handout of Finance ministry added.
