Share trading began on a positive note at both the Dhaka and Chattogram stock markets on Monday, with key indices moving up as most company shares gained in early trading.
During the first hour, the benchmark DSEX index of the Dhaka Stock Exchange climbed by 55 points. The Shariah-based DSES index rose by 6 points, while the blue-chip DS30 index advanced by 17 points.
Market activity was strong, with turnover on the Dhaka bourse crossing Tk 280 crore within the first hour. Prices increased for the majority of listed securities. Of the companies traded, 323 recorded gains, 32 saw their prices fall, and 34 remained unchanged.
A similar trend was seen at the Chattogram Stock Exchange. Its broad-based CASPI index added 30 points during the same period.
At the Chattogram bourse, share prices rose for 67 companies, declined for 26, and stayed unchanged for 19. Total turnover there exceeded Tk 3 crore in shares and units.
Market analysts said the upbeat start reflected renewed buying interest from investors at the beginning of the week.
