The International Fire Safety and Security Expo opened today with the goal of boosting regulatory agencies` capability, manufacturing high-quality equipment locally, and discouraging the development of substandard items.
The ninth edition of the expo was opened by Salman F Rahman, the prime minister`s adviser on private business and investment, at Dhaka`s Bangabandhu International Conference Centre.
Speaking during the inauguration the organizer, Md Niaz Ali Chishty also president of the Electronics Safety and Security Association of Bangladesh (ESSAB), stated that if imports of substandard fire safety equipment are not reduced, the country`s aim of becoming a developed country will be jeopardized.
