The Bangladesh Jewellers Association (BAJUS) has announced a reduction in gold prices in the local market. According to the new decision, the price of 22-carat gold has been lowered by Tk 2,158 per bhori (11.664 grams), bringing the new rate to Tk 240,337.
In a statement issued Tuesday morning, BAJUS said the revised prices came into effect from 10:00 am the same day.
The association explained that the adjustment was made due to a decline in the price of pure gold (acid gold) in the local market.
Under the new rates:
- 22-carat gold: Tk 240,337 per bhori
- 21-carat gold: Tk 229,431 per bhori
- 18-carat gold: Tk 196,655 per bhori
- Traditional method gold: Tk 160,147 per bhori
Previously, on April 30, BAJUS had increased gold prices by the same amount—Tk 2,158 per bhori. At that time, the price of 22-carat gold was set at Tk 242,495 per bhori, effective from 7:00 PM that day.
The earlier rates were:
- 21-carat gold: Tk 231,472 per bhori
- 18-carat gold: Tk 198,405 per bhori
- Traditional gold: Tk 161,605 per bhori
So far this year, gold prices in Bangladesh have been adjusted 61 times—33 increases and 28 decreases. In 2025, prices were revised 93 times, with 64 increases and 29 decreases.
Despite the drop in gold prices, silver prices remain unchanged. The current rates are:
- 22-carat silver: Tk 5,482 per bhori
- 21-carat silver: Tk 5,190 per bhori
- 18-carat silver: Tk 4,491 per bhori
- Traditional silver: Tk 3,383 per bhori
This year, silver prices have been adjusted 36 times—19 increases and 17 decreases. In 2025, silver prices were revised 13 times, including 10 increases and 3 decreases.
