The Bangladesh Jewellers Association has once again announced a reduction in gold prices in the local market. The price of 22-carat gold, considered the highest quality, has been reduced by Tk 2,216 per bhori, setting the new price at Tk 242,495. The revised rates came into effect from 10:00 am today.
The decision was made at a meeting of the BAJUS Standing Committee on Pricing and Price Monitoring held on Friday morning. The matter was later confirmed in a statement signed by committee chairman Dr. Dewan Aminul Islam Shaheen.
According to BAJUS, the price adjustment was made due to a decline in the price of pure gold in the local market.
Under the new rates, the price of 21-carat gold has been reduced by Tk 2,100 to Tk 231,472 per bhori. The price of 18-carat gold has been cut by Tk 1,808 to Tk 198,405 per bhori, while traditional-method gold now costs Tk 161,605 per bhori after a reduction of Tk 1,458.
Earlier, on May 7, BAJUS had increased gold prices, raising the rate of 22-carat gold to Tk 244,711 per bhori. Within just eight days, the association has now lowered the price by the same margin.
However, despite the reduction in gold prices, silver prices remain unchanged. Currently, 22-carat silver is priced at Tk 5,774 per bhori, 21-carat silver at Tk 5,540, 18-carat silver at Tk 4,724, and traditional-method silver at Tk 3,558 per bhori.
