Bangladesh Jewellers Association (BAJUS) has once again reduced gold prices in the local market, lowering the price of 22-carat gold by Tk 4,374 per bhori to Tk 238,121.
In a statement issued on Saturday morning, BAJUS said the new prices came into effect at 10 a.m. the same day.
The association explained that the adjustment was made following a decline in the price of refined gold in the local market, taking overall conditions into consideration.
Under the revised rates, 21-carat gold is priced at Tk 227,331 per bhori, 18-carat gold at Tk 194,847, and traditional (sanatan) gold at Tk 158,689.
Previously, BAJUS had adjusted gold prices on May 15, when the price per bhori was reduced by Tk 2,216.
With this latest revision, gold prices in the country have been adjusted a total of 65 times this year so far—35 times upward and 30 times downward.
Silver prices have also been reduced. The price of 22-carat silver has been lowered by Tk 117 per bhori to Tk 5,657.
Under the new rates, 21-carat silver is priced at Tk 5,365 per bhori, 18-carat at Tk 4,607, and traditional silver at Tk 3,441.
