Mahbubul Alam of Chattogram Chamber of Commerce and Industry has been elected as President of FBCCI.
President, senior vice-president, and 6 vice-presidents have also been elected without vote and through mutual understanding.
Mahbubul will serve as the President of the Board of Directors of FBCCI for the period 2023-25. He got the green light from the top of the government in the post of president earlier. The panel led by him is the Business Oikya panel. A total of 55 directors out of 80 were elected (unopposed) and nominated in favor of this panel.
However, in the election of 23 posts of the association group, this influential panel was defeated. The Combined Business panel won 15 posts.
As a result, there is an interest among businessmen about who is coming to the post of vice president of this apex trade organisation.
Md. Amin Helaly has been elected as senior vice-president from Bangladesh Pathya Pustak Mudrak-O-Biponon Samity, who is also vice president of the outgoing committee of FBCCI.
Among six vice presidents three are from the chamber groups and the rest are three different associations. Vice-president from chambers –Khairul Huda Chopol, Sunamganj Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Mohammad Anwar Sadat Sarker, Gazipur Chamber of Commerce and Industry, and Joshoda Jibon Deb Nath, Bangladesh Chamber of Industries.
Vice-presidents from the associations are- Shomi Kaiser, E-Commerce Association of Bangladesh, Rashedul Hossain Chowdhury, Maize Association of Bangladesh, and Munir Hossain, Exporters Association of Bangladesh.
A Matin Chowdhury was the chairman of the election board, and KMN Manjurul Hoque and Shamsul Alam were the members of the election board.
