Share trading at the country’s two stock exchanges moved lower in the first half of Wednesday’s session, with key indices posting modest losses.
At the Dhaka Stock Exchange, the benchmark DSEX slipped by 7 points by midday.
The Shariah-based DSES stayed flat, while the blue-chip DS30 index edged down by 2 points. Market breadth remained negative as prices of 182 companies declined, compared with 126 gainers, while 82 issues saw no change.
Turnover at the DSE stood at about Tk 280 crore during the period.
A similar trend was seen at the Chittagong Stock Exchange, where the broad-based CASPI index fell by 36 points in the first half of trading. Of the issues traded, 62 companies closed lower, 49 advanced and 14 remained unchanged.
The port city bourse recorded a turnover of around Tk 2 crore.
Market participants said cautious investor sentiment weighed on prices across both exchanges in early trading.
