Russian Ambassador to Bangladesh, Alexander Mantytskiy Khozin, held a meeting with BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir on Sunday to discuss a range of bilateral matters, including Bangladesh`s forthcoming national election and the proposed humanitarian corridor to Myanmar’s Rakhine State.
The one-hour meeting took place at 11:00 a.m. at BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia’s Gulshan office.
BNP Standing Committee member Amir Khosru Mahmud Chowdhury, who also serves on the party`s Foreign Affairs Advisory Committee, and Organising Secretary Shama Obaed were present at the meeting.
Following the discussion, Amir Khosru briefed journalists, stating that several topics of mutual interest were discussed. He noted Russia’s expressed desire to deepen its longstanding relationship with Bangladesh, rooted in historical support during the country’s 1971 Liberation War.
Khosru added that Russia is interested in expanding cooperation in areas such as trade and investment. The two sides also exchanged views on the upcoming national election in Bangladesh.
