Ahead of the national election, the US and Australia have warned its people to use caution when visiting Bangladesh.
The US Embassy and Australian High Commission to Dhaka have separately recommended its people to stay away from marches, rallies, and demonstrations, warning that these events could quickly turn violent.
Political protests and other election-related events have already started, according to the US Embassy, and may be held more frequently or intensely as the general election approaches.
It advised Americans to evaluate their personal security plans, stay alert to their surroundings, including any local events, and keep an eye on local news sources for updates.
Meanwhile, Australian High commission stated that various political activities including protests, rallies may increase before the national elections by January next year. These political activities can turn violent without warning. Because of this, citizens have been advised to avoid protests and gatherings.
