6 injured in alleged attack on Chhatra Dal members by Chhatra League men near DU

At least six Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal Leaders claimed to be injured as ruling party’s student wing Bangladesh Chhatra League men allegedly carried out an attack on them.

The incident took place in front of Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) on Monday evening.

The injured are Chhatra Dal’s female affairs secretary Mansura Hossain, unit joint general secretary of Dhaka University’s Zahurul Haq Hall unit Mehedi Hasan, Bangabandhu Hall’s joint general secretary Aman Ullah Aman, Salimullah Muslim (SM) Hall unit’s activist Raju Ahmed Md Kafi and activist of Zia hall chapter Md Mahmud.

After the reported incident, Mansura wrote a post on Facebook, that assistant secretary of Chhatra League, Imam Hasan, came to the ourdoor unit of DMCH after Iftar and attacked them. “He used vulgar words and abused me physically. I can't hear anything with my ears…”

DU Chhatra Dal unit general secretary Ariful Islam said that six people were injured in this alleged attack of a group of Chhatra League men and they have been admitted to hospital.

“Raju was seriously injured and Mehedi received 10 stitches on his head,” he claimed.

The accused Imam Hasan could not be reached for comments.

General secretary of DU unit Chhatra League Tanbir Hasan Saikat said that under the instructions of Tareque Rahman (Acting Chairperson of BNP), Chhatra Dal followers took an aggressive stand in the campus. They attacked a student of the Soil, Water and Environment department of DU. Later, general students resisted them.

When asked whether he could identify the victim of Soil, Water and Environment department, Saikat said he only heard about the incident.

Moreover, the alleged Imam is the follower of Saikat. The DU general secretary said Imam was accompanying him in the Madhur Canteen area. He rejected the claim of Imam’s involvement in connection with this incident.
