The results of the 2025 Secondary School Certificate (SSC) and equivalent examinations revealed a concerning shift in institutional performance, with a steep decline in schools achieving full pass rates and a sharp rise in those recording complete failure.
This year, only 984 educational institutions saw all their students pass—down drastically from 2,968 schools in 2024, marking a reduction of 1,984 institutions.
In contrast, 134 schools reported zero pass rates, more than double last year’s figure of 51, showing an increase of 83 institutions.
The results, released simultaneously by nine general education boards along with the Madrasah and Technical Education Boards, come after exams held between April 10 and May 13.
A total of 1,490,142 candidates participated under the general boards, while the Madrasah and Technical Boards saw 294,726 and 143,313 examinees respectively.
Despite no formal ceremony, officials, including the Chairman of the Dhaka Board, discussed the overall trends, noting the urgent need for educational quality improvement in underperforming institutions.
