Bangladeshi national arrested in India over 'jihadi links'

A Bangladesh national, and four others have been arrested in India over jihadist links in India's Assam. 

The alleged jihadi group based in the neighbouring country is believed affiliated to the Al-Qaeda in Indian Sub continent (AQIS) from Indian state Assam's Barpeta district.

The matter was revealed by the state's top police officer Bhaskar Jyoti Mahanta said on Saturday. 

According to the police, the Bangladeshi national, identified as Md Suman alias Saiful Islam, had indoctrinated four others in a bid to develop Barpeta as a base for jehadi work for AQIS, reports The Daily Star. 

 

Documents and electronic devices were recovered from their possession, the DGP added.
