The wildfires in California are getting stronger, with flames spreading rapidly in various directions.
According to the Los Angeles Fire Department, at least five bodies have been found so far.
Many people have been injured and taken to nearby hospitals for treatment.
Firefighters are also getting hurt as they work to control the blaze, but the fire remains beyond their control.
Los Angeles Sheriff Robert Luna told reporters, “I am praying to God that no more lives are lost. But the situation is dire. There is a fear of more casualties."
It’s feared that many people are still trapped in the fire.
In the middle of this crisis, three individuals have been arrested for attempting to loot from homes abandoned due to the fire.
Los Angeles Fire Chief Anthony Marrone reported that at least 1,000 homes in the wealthy Palisades area have already been destroyed.
The fire has now consumed over 5,000 acres of land.
Currently, there are separate wildfires burning in at least four areas across Los Angeles, and none of them are under control.
The flames are spreading further.
Sheriff Luna stated that there aren`t enough firefighters in Los Angeles to handle this emergency.
At least 100,000 residents have been evacuated to safety from Los Angeles alone.
According to the fire chief, strong winds are causing the fire to spread more quickly.
Many Hollywood celebrities own homes in the Palisades area. Some, like Ben Affleck, Tom Hanks, and Mandy Moore, live there.
Moore has already evacuated her home, as have Mark Hamill and James Woods.
Kamala Harris also owns a house in the area, and she has been asked to evacuate, though she is currently not in Los Angeles.
The mayor of Los Angeles has warned that air pollution levels are rising due to the fire and has advised everyone to wear masks.
The skies over Los Angeles are now heavily polluted from the smoke and ash.
